Electrical Engineering Project Manager – Electrical Distribution

Los Alamos County, NM is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineering Project Manager for the Electrical Distribution Division in the Department of Public Utilities (DPU). The role involves performing analysis and modeling of the electrical distribution system; reviewing proposed subdivision electrical utilities; coordinating with developers to control utility system construction in accordance with County Utility standards; reviewing and coordinating electrical system deficiencies with distribution operations to engineer and reconstruct systems as needed;

and supporting the Division’s environmental sustainability, electrification, and customer service goals.

The candidate will assist DPU in implementing environmental sustainability goals; establish a plan to upgrade electric supply and distribution systems to meet the needs of all-electric buildings and electric vehicles; support electrification and solar installations; maintain system reliability; and strengthen existing partnerships.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in NM or ability to acquire within 12 months.
  • Five (5) years of combined experience in engineering, power distribution, or consulting engineering.
  • U.S. citizen and able to obtain a non-cleared U.S. Department of Energy badge.
  • Project Management Certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in electric distribution design and applicable regulatory agencies, codes, and standards.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is a plus.

The salary range for this position is $100,698 to $163,971. A generous benefit and retirement package is also offered. A relocation allowance is available.
