Spectra Tech, Inc. is hiring for an Engineer/Scientist 3 in Los Alamos, NM.
Position OverviewYou will ensure the success of the team responsible for planning, managing requirements and interfaces, executing, testing, reporting status, and ultimately delivering a producible, Mark Quality design and product.
At the Scientist 3 level, you will lead the planning, execution, and status reporting for product realization of polymer components. You will interface regularly with internal LANL organizations, external production agencies, and external customers to accomplish these activities.
In addition, a Scientist 3 may perform cross-cutting work across multiple Polymer Product Realization Teams (PRTs), coordinate with Qualification, Test, and Evaluation (QTE), and support requirements evaluation and revision activities. This role also provides technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff supporting these efforts.
Key Responsibilities Product Realization Leadership- Lead planning, execution, and status reporting activities for polymer component product realization.
- Ensure successful delivery of producible, Mark Quality designs and products.
- Manage requirements, interfaces, testing, and execution activities throughout the product lifecycle.
- Support product realization efforts from conceptual design through qualified production.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to early-career scientists, engineers, and technical staff.
- Lead and influence multidisciplinary R&D teams consisting of scientists, engineers, technicians, and operations personnel.
- Support cross-cutting activities across multiple Polymer Product Realization Teams.
- Interface effectively with:
- Internal LANL organizations

- DoD
- NNSA
- Other government agencies
- Build trust, gain consensus, resolve conflicts, and maintain strong working relationships.

- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and technical execution.
- Coordinate activities with Qualification, Test, and Evaluation (QTE) organizations.
- Ensure project objectives are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Significant knowledge and experience in one or more technical research and development disciplines.
- Demonstrated understanding of principles of scientific integrity.
- Significant experience developing and implementing technical R&D projects, including:
- Formulation and testing of hypotheses
- Investigation of alternative solutions
- Recommendation of technical solutions
- Significant experience presenting technical results to scientific and engineering audiences.
- Significant knowledge of safe work practices related to technical research and development.
- Ability to solve complex technical problems involving multiple variables.
- Ability to utilize innovative techniques and unconventional methods when necessary.
- Demonstrated ability to work, influence, and lead within multidisciplinary R&D teams.

- 11 years of related experience.
- Research experience at a university, national laboratory, or equivalent directly related experience.
- Master's Degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university.
