Manufacturing Engineer ; R&D Engineer

What You Will Do

The Stockpile Production Management Stockpile - Integration Office (SPM-SI) is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer 2 or Manufacturing Engineer 3 to join the Production Optimization Team. This team will focus on the following:

• Optimizing factory design, product workflows, work standards, and engineering best practices
• Implementing strategic initiatives such as Windchill Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software, Requirements Management Systems (ex: PTC Codebeamer), and Industry 4.0/5.0 technologies
• Ensuring the Production Agency (factory) is ready for future weapon systems missions

The major job roles will include the following:

• Production Optimization Team – Lead and support modernizing the Production Agency via factory and product workflow optimization, layout, and manufacturing work standards.
• Windchill PLM – Act as subject matter expert, lead implementation and support engineering staff in BOM management, Process Plans, and Change Management; provide program support and project management.
• Readiness for Future Weapon Systems – Lead or support efforts to prepare the Production Agency for manufacturing components for future weapon systems, including travel to other sites and collaboration with Design Agencies.
• Industry 4.0/5.0 Initiatives – Lead or support projects such as SAP ERP, Solumina MES, Digital Work Instructions, and connected factory floor technologies.

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in an engineering discipline.
• Experience with manufacturing concepts, systems, processes, and tools (e.g., factory and product workflow design). Also knowledge of engineering concepts, methods, and tools (e.g., Models-Based Design, MBSE, PLM, CAD, tooling, fixtures).
• Leadership skills including integrity, accountability, oral and written communication, mentoring, conflict resolution, and influence across all levels.
• Experience in manufacturing operations in laboratory-type facilities.

• In-depth knowledge and experience in engineering disciplines.
• Expert-level experience in manufacturing concepts, systems, processes, and tools and in engineering concepts, methods, and tools.
• Expert-level ability to recommend solutions to complex issues.
• Expert-level ability to balance multiple projects with organizational goals in a high-pressure environment.

• Lower level:
  Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution and 4 years of related experience (or equivalent).
• Higher level:
  Master’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution and 6 years of related experience (or equivalent). A Ph.D. may be preferred.

• Expert knowledge or experience with PLM software such as PTC Windchill or Siemens Teamcenter.
• Expert knowledge or experience with eBOMs, mBOMs, and Process Plans in PLM.
• Expert knowledge of Creo, PTC Codebeamer RMS software systems.
• Experience with Windchill MPMLink.
• Knowledge of SAP ERP and Solumina MES or similar systems.
• Experience integrating PLM, MES, and/or ERP.
• Experience with IIoT and Industry 4.0/5.0 technologies, including implementation.
• Demonstrated achievement of required objectives in a production environment.
• Existing DOE “Q” clearance (or equivalent).

This position is physically located in Los Alamos, NM and requires on-site work.
