OverviewThe Work Control Planner ensures accuracy with the development of preventive and corrective maintenance planning packages for unique program equipment. Additionally, supports ensuring data accuracy across Asset Suite CMMS, Micro Strategy, and internal backlog tracking tools while maintaining compliance with Laboratory maintenance and work authorization requirements.
SummaryDevelops and/or reviews work packages, including time, material, and labor estimates, written step‑by‑step work instructions, procedures, and/or safety and testing requirements for the implementation and control of operations, maintenance, or modification of work activities within a given facility or area. Specific planning duties may be related to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and/or radiological equipment, policies, and procedures, and may also include resolving work restraints and bringing work packages to final closure.
Job Duties- Prepares, reviews, and issues equipment and/or system modification, corrective maintenance, and/or preventive maintenance work packages for unique and/or complex activities in unique and/or complex systems in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations.
- Analyzes time and material requirements for unique and/or complex work activities.
- Prepares detailed specifications for materials and labor estimates for unique and/or complex activities.
- Takes the lead in developing step‑by‑step instructions for work for unique and/or complex activities.
- Manages and expedites established priority of work packages.
- Prepares and/or reviews efficient and specific instructions for the isolation, containment, or de‑energization of various unique and/or complex mechanical, physical, electrical, chemical, and/or radiological systems according to established procedures and regulations.
- Manages various functional and administrative activities in conjunction with the primary work control/work package development, including, but not limited to, permit development, testing requirements, documentation generation, records management, database information management, retrieval and review, and/or training.
- Understands and adheres to all Laboratory and industry regulatory guidance and governance specific to work control and planning.
- Ensures all work control results, materials, processes, and final products meet quality specifications and are completed according to established requirements.
- Fosters a mutually respectful and inclusive work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.
- Regular contact with maintenance/operations management, engineers, technicians, and other operational and facility personnel.
- Physical requirements (can perform with or without reasonable accommodation):
Walking, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, kneeling, squatting, balancing, and site visits; no lifting requirements. - Focus on reliability and maintenance; programmatic equipment needs and maintenance plans established.
- Unique knowledge of and broad experience with unique and/or complex work control, materials management, and/or mechanical maintenance.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock‑out/tag‑out policies and procedures in unique and/or complex facilities.
- In‑depth understanding and ability to interpret various unique and/or complex mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
- Ability to fully utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system (Asset Suites and/or SAP) in maintaining and tracking work‑planning activities.
- Ability to fully conceptualize and communicate major elements of work control and planning for unique and/or complex activities, both technical and non‑technical personnel.
