Position: Work Control Planner 1/2

What You Will Do

This position will be filled at either the Work Control Planner 1 or 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Work Control is a multidisciplinary group that provides deployed support to all Facility Operations Directorates for maintenance planning, scheduling, and CMMS support. The MSS-Work Control group uses Integrated Work Management to plan, schedule, and perform work in a safe and secure manner.

You will be responsible to a deployed Work Control Team Lead for developing and/or reviewing work packages, including time, material, and labor estimates, written step‑by‑step work instructions, procedures, and safety or post‑maintenance testing requirements for the implementation and control of operations, maintenance, construction or modification of work activities within a given facility. Specific planning duties may involve mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiological equipment, policies, and procedures, resolving work restraints, and bringing work packages to final closure.

Work

Control Planner 1
  • Assure safety and security compliance, maintain required safety and security training, and make safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
  • Assist in preparing, reviewing, and issuing equipment and/or system modification, corrective maintenance, and/or preventive maintenance work packages in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations.
  • Understand the process for preparation of detailed specifications for materials and labor estimates and development of step‑by‑step instructions for work.
  • Prepare and review efficient and specific instructions for the isolation, containment, or de‑energizing of mechanical, physical, electrical, chemical, and radiological systems according to established procedures and regulations.
  • Assist with various functional and administrative activities in conjunction with the primary work control/work package development, including permit development, testing requirements, documentation generation, records management, database information management, retrieval and review, and training.
  • Adhere to industry regulatory guidance and governance specific to work control and planning.
  • Ensure all work control results, materials, processes, and final products meet quality specifications and are completed according to established requirements.
Work Control Planner 2
  • Analyze time and material requirements for work activity.
  • Track and expedite established priority of work packages.
  • Evaluate processes, programs, and procedures for potential improvements.
What You Need Minimum

Job Requirements
  • Knowledge & Expertise
    :
    Knowledge of and experience with work control, materials management, and/or mechanical maintenance. Ability to understand and interpret various mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics. Understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock‑out/tag‑out policies and procedures.
  • Communication/Teamwork
    :
    Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting work control and planning. Skill in the preparation and presentation of reports.
  • Planning & Prioritization
    :
    Skill to conceptualize and communicate elements of work control and planning to both technical and non‑technical personnel.
  • Business Systems
    :
    Ability to utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking work planning activities.
