Position: RLWF Procedure Writer ( Operations Support Specialist 2/3)

What You Will Do

This position will be filled at either the Operations Support Specialist 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

Selected candidate will report to the Radioactive Liquid Waste Treatment Facility (RLWF) Operations Manager providing operations support in developing, revising and conducting field verification of facility level procedures (detailed operating procedures, surveillance and technical procedures, in-service inspection procedures, system alignment checks, abnormal operating procedures, alarm response instructions, etc.) to ensure compliance with the LANL Conduct of Operations Manual (P315), Integrated Work Management Manual (P300) and the DOE Writer's Guide.

Operations

Support Specialist 2

As an Operations Support Specialist 2, you will develop and revise technical work documents in accordance with DOE Writer's Guide, or equivalent, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with all nuclear standards, processes, and procedures. You will support validation of the technical basis of written procedures by reviewing the relevant technical and regulatory documents and perform operational walkdowns. You will ensure compliance with PA-AP-01000, Document Control Processes, and be aware of and communicate revisions to this procedure.

Support Specialist 3

In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level you will oversee the implementation of documentation systems and ensure compliance with all applicable document control and records management activities and security/compliance implications. The selected candidate will develop advanced concepts, techniques and standards based on professional principles and practices in relation to operational support activities. You may lead and oversee self‑assessments and incident investigations and ensure accurate development and/or processing of any required reports and/or recommendations.

You will ensure integration of facility specific requirements into readiness review and implementation verification review program documents and assist in delivery of readiness review training as required.

Job Requirements
  • Work processes:
    Knowledge and experience developing, revising, and approving technical work documents in accordance with the DOE Writers Guide, or equivalent, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with all nuclear standards, processes and procedures.
  • Job Performance:
    Demonstrated ability to validate the technical basis of written procedures by reviewing the relevant technical and regulatory documents and performing operational walk downs.
  • Compliance:
    Knowledge interpreting and enforcing DOE Orders pertaining to Nuclear Facilities (DOE O 420.1c, Facility Safety and DOE O 422.1, Conduct of Operations) or high hazard facility.
  • Communication:
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
  • Safety:
    Familiarity with work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock‑out/tag‑out policies and procedures.
  • Customer Service:
    Exceptional customer service, organizational skills, and ability to interact with all levels of personnel internal and external to the Laboratory.
  • Work Ethic:
    Ability to self‑supervise and work under consultative direction toward predetermined long‑range targets.
