Post Doctoral Position in Resolution Digital Image Correlation

What You Will Do

MST-8 is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to conduct in situ SEM mesoscale mechanical testing coupled with high resolution digital image correlation. The candidate will explore the roles of microstructure, temperature, and impurity on local plasticity in advanced structural alloys including tempered‑martensitic alloys, stainless steels, and uranium alloys. The position will be awarded to the candidate demonstrating exceptional talent with a successful collaborative and scientific track record.

Minimum

Job Requirements:

• Expertise in high resolution digital image correlation of SEM images.
• Expertise in digital image correlation analysis.
• Expertise in mechanical testing.
• Demonstrated knowledge of metals deformation behavior.

Education/

Experience:

A PhD in nuclear engineering, materials science, physics, chemistry, or a related engineering discipline completed within the last five years or soon to be completed.

Desired

Qualifications:

• Experience with in situ SEM mechanical testing.
• Experience analyzing slip, twinning, and grain boundary sliding.
• Experience with metallographic preparation for DIC.
• Experience with advanced DIC algorithms.
