What You Will DoWe seek a research technologist to work in a collaborative team environment at the Sigma Complex, a prototyping and fabrication facility supporting Los Alamos experimental programs. You will work with pressure/vacuum systems, design new systems, conduct experiments, and develop data acquisition and control systems.
Responsibilities- Design, construct, test, and operate vacuum/pressure systems and equipment.
- Design, test, and operate computer-based experimental control and data acquisition systems (e.g., LabVIEW or PLC).
- Prepare engineering drawings for fixtures and equipment.
- Operate with radioactive and hazardous materials in a rigorous safety environment.
- Apply scientific methods to troubleshoot equipment and analyze experimental data.
Job Requirements
- Experience designing, constructing, testing, and operating vacuum/pressure systems.
- Experience with CAD, LabVIEW, MATLAB, and Origin or similar software.
- Experience with electrical systems and electronics.
- Ability to learn and maintain analytical instrumentation.
- Proficient communication skills; 2–3 years experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Capacity to obtain and maintain a Q clearance.
- 3–5 years advanced experience in vacuum/pressure system design, construction, and operation.
- 3–5 years experience programming data acquisition routines (LabVIEW, Click PLC).
- Experience constructing and operating data acquisition systems and performing data analysis.
- Ability to develop and modify experiment methods and procedures to meet objectives.
- Experience working in glove boxes.
Ability to apply torque with hands or arms, good hand‑eye coordination, fine motor control, lift 25 pounds to 3–4 feet, and load into an enclosed space.

Position requires a Q clearance; U.S. citizenship is required, except as otherwise authorized.
