What You Will Do
Los Alamos National Laboratory's Intelligence and Space Research (ISR) Division designs, builds, delivers, and operates innovative ground‑air‑space‑based measurement systems that support scientific discovery and national security missions. ISR's more than 400 instruments fly on over 200 satellites, including NASA missions such as Voyager and recent Mars Rover missions.
As a Project/Program Specialist you will serve as an integral member of multiple ISR project teams, supporting projects with varying schedules, budgets, technical objectives, procurement activities, and risk profiles. You will work closely with project leaders, technical staff, procurement professionals, suppliers, and institutional partners to plan, coordinate, execute, and monitor project activities and to ensure successful delivery of mission objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support project leaders in planning, organizing, and controlling resources and processes to achieve project objectives within scope, schedule, quality, and budget constraints.
- Support operational planning, cost estimating, schedule development & maintenance, and reporting of project execution activities.
- Plan and perform procurement and supplier management activities, track supplier performance metrics, deliverables, milestones, and status information.
- Support supplier reviews, corrective action activities, and identify and mitigate project and supplier risks.
- Support project reporting and communication of status, issues, recommendations, and process improvements.
- Understand and comply with Laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
The position reports to the ISR‑7 Project Management & Execution Team Leader and is a member of the Project Management & Execution Team.
What You Need MinimumJob Requirements
- Knowledge of project or program management principles and practices.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to plan, organize, monitor, and communicate project status and issues.
- Familiarity with procurement processes of a large R&D enterprise or supplier management systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Knowledge of project management tools.
Bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Associate's degree in a related field and four (4) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
High School diploma and six (6) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications- Experience supporting technical, engineering, aerospace, space systems, or research and development projects.
- Experience supporting supplier, subcontractor, or vendor management activities.
- Familiarity with project controls, scheduling, cost tracking, and risk management.
- Experience with SAP‑based ERP, procurement, or supplier management systems.
- Knowledge of DOE and/or NNSA environments.
The work location for this position is hybrid, located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within a 2‑hour ground commute of this location. All work locations are at management discretion and may change with notice.

Position requires a Q clearance. Selected applicants will undergo a background investigation. U.S. citizenship is required, except in limited circumstances.
