** What You Will Do*
* Are you a talented and driven engineer looking to develop, maintain, and apply a diverse set of engineering capabilities to provide innovative engineering solutions? Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking a skilled professional to join our Engineering Services (ES) Division as an Electrical Engineer. As a vital member of the ES-DO team you will contribute to the implementation of the Conduct of Engineering (COE) program at LANL in support of systems, structure and component modifications and new installations, as well as supporting existing systems, modifications and customers occupying the facilities.
This position supports the Weapons Facilities Operations (WFO) portfolio consisting of nuclear, accelerator and non-nuclear facilities, spanning half of the laboratory's footprint. As an Electrical Engineer in this area, you will directly support facilities with a direct impact on LANL's stockpile modernization mission. Daily tasks include but are not limited to response to emerging facility issues, configuration management including facility technical baseline management, electrical/pressure safety support, reviewing designs for facility modification and providing system health reporting.
Note:
This position will be filled at either the Nuclear Facilities Engineer 1/Nuclear Facilities Engineer 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
** Electrical Engineer 1 ($96,600 - $158,000)*
* As an Electrical Engineer with Engineering Services, you will serve as the owner's representative for engineering for your assigned facilities. You will concurrently interface with design teams, maintenance, and operations, shaping LANL's facilities and infrastructure to serve the needs of a growing and changing portfolio. The level 1 role includes the following job opportunities:

+ Foster relationships with project stakeholders and customers as a representative of Engineering Services
+ Facilitate technical growth of the engineering team

* + Ability to prepare calculations, apply engineering methods, and apply technology aided engineering tools to facility and operations-based engineering challenges
+ Ability to support timely and collaborative construction execution
+ This includes timely review of submittals, requests for information (RFIs), design changes, non-conformance issues, validation of commissioning documentation and produce accurate as-built documents
+ Basic knowledge of engineering principles, codes, and standards

Job Requirements for System Engineer Level 2:
+ Demonstrated design experience in commercial and/or government sectors
+ Knowledge of engineering work planning and design coordination
+ Ability to collaboratively problem solve, show commitment, and function well in a team environment
+ Thorough knowledge of engineering principles
+ Demonstrated experience in the development of engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, test and inspection plans (TIPs), and statements of special inspection (SSIs)
** Education/Experience for System Engineer 1:
** Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 2 years of practical work experience necessary to perform the responsibilities outlined above. Advanced engineering or technical degree is highly desired. Current registration as a Engineer in Training (EIT) is highly desirable.
** Education/Experience for System Engineer 2:
** Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and a minimum of 3 years of practical work experience necessary to perform the responsibilities outlined above. Advanced engineering or technical degree is highly desired. Current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) is highly desirable.
