Senior Design Engineer – Plutonium Facilities Engineering Rapid Response Team
Organization seeks up to two Senior Design Engineers in electrical and civil/structural engineering disciplines to support projects at and around TA‑55.
Responsibilities- Perform assigned activities within an engineering discipline in support of facility design, operation, and maintenance, applying broad and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in complex engineering analyses.
- Execute conventional and unique structural design and analysis, and provide construction and project support.
- Lead projects and supervise the work of others while coordinating inter‑disciplinary activities.
- Work independently and as part of a team, utilizing engineering technology to accomplish work.
- Identify and manage work‑process improvement to meet customer needs.
- Identify system integration activities within and across disciplines.
- Expert knowledge of industry, regulatory, or Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) complex codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to the engineering discipline.
- Proven knowledge of applicable codes and standards in common use at DOE and DOD facilities (ASCE, ASME, NQA‑1, IBC, IEC, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, etc.).
- Extensive prior experience facilitating design package development and senior‑level understanding of common engineering design document deliverables.
- Experience with common computer‑aided drafting software or mark‑up software.
- Minimum of 9 years of practical work experience; advanced engineering or technical degree highly desired.
- Candidate must be able to obtain and hold a DOE Q clearance and participate in the Human Reliability Program (HRP); U.S. citizenship required; minimum age 18 for clearance.
- Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college or university.
- Position may be subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, which establishes entry‑level requirements to ensure employees can successfully perform the job.
