Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking a skilled professional to join our Engineering Services (ES) Division as a Mechanical Engineer. As a vital member of the ES-DO team you will contribute to the implementation of the Conduct of Engineering (COE) program at LANL in support of systems, structure and component modifications and new installations, as well as supporting existing systems, modifications and customers occupying the facilities.

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking a skilled professional to join our Engineering Services (ES) Division as a Mechanical Engineer. As a vital member of the ES-DO team you will contribute to the implementation of the Conduct of Engineering (COE) program at LANL in support of systems, structure and component modifications and new installations, as well as supporting existing systems, modifications and customers occupying the facilities.
This position supports the Weapons Facilities Operations (WFO) portfolio consisting of nuclear, accelerator and non-nuclear facilities, spanning half of the laboratory s footprint. As an Electrical Engineer in this area, you will directly support facilities with a direct impact on LANL s stockpile modernization mission. Daily tasks include but are not limited to response to emerging facility issues, configuration management including facility technical baseline management, electrical/pressure safety support, reviewing designs for facility modification and providing system health reporting.
Note: This position will be filled at either the Nuclear Facilities Engineer 1/Nuclear Facilities Engineer 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Mechanical Engineer 1Mechanical Engineer 1 ($96,600 - $158,000)
As a Mechanical Engineer with Engineering Services, you will serve as the owner s representative for engineering for your assigned facilities. You will concurrently interface with design teams, maintenance, and operations, shaping LANL s facilities and infrastructure to serve the needs of a growing and changing portfolio. The level 1 role includes the following job opportunities:

Mechanical Engineer 2 ($106,400 - $176,000)
In addition to duties listed above, the level 2 role includes the following job duties:
- Develop skills to independently run all engineering facets of a project from scoping to construction to sustainment
- Foster relationships with project stakeholders and customers as a representative of Engineering Services
- Facilitate technical growth of the engineering team
Minimum
Job Requirements:
- Ability to prepare calculations, apply engineering methods, and apply technology aided engineering tools to facility and operations-based engineering challenges
- Ability to support timely and collaborative construction execution
- This includes timely review of submittals, requests for information (RFIs), design changes, non-conformance issues, validation of commissioning documentation and produce accurate as-built documents
- Basic knowledge of engineering principles, codes, and standards
