What You Will Do
The Nuclear Criticality Safety Division (NCS) is searching for a highly motivated post-baccalaureate with a strong background in nuclear engineering. The role involves developing challenging criticality safety evaluation documents (CSEDs) and supporting all aspects of criticality safety. Responsibilities include close collaboration within an interdisciplinary team that supports a variety of nuclear facilities across LANL.
MinimumJob Requirements
- Degree in Nuclear Engineering
- Proficiency in Python and MCNP
- Interest in pursuing criticality safety as a career
- Post-Associate's or Post-Bachelor's degree
- Completed an Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (or international equivalent) within the last three years
- Earned a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
- Experience running MCNP; kcode calculations preferred
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently
- Strong communication skills
- Comfortable in a customer‑service environment
- Ability to obtain security clearance (Q)
Work Location:
Onsite/Hybrid – the position is located in Los Alamos, NM with a potential hybrid arrangement consistent with a 2‑hour ground commute. Regular onsite attendance is required. Some interns may work a 9/80 schedule at management’s discretion. Anticipated travel: candidate may travel for NCS‑related training, including the DOE NCSP 2‑week Hands‑on Course.
