The Opportunity
Tech2 Solutions (T2S) is a critical subcontractor on the N3B Los Alamos LLC team, providing program management and technical services for the ground & surface water monitoring program at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Los Alamos National Laboratory.
- Implement IP corrective actions to address stormwater exceedances, including design of controls such as earthen berms, retention basins, gabions, red-rock block, shotcrete caps, low-impact developments, and natural channel designs.
- Oversee bidding and execution of construction projects for stormwater controls.
- Perform inspections and oversee maintenance of stormwater controls.
- Develop cost-effective design layouts based on specifications and requirements.
- Adhere to established design guidelines and procedures.
- Analyze design issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform or manage civil, hydrologic, mechanical, and/or electrical design analysis and calculations as required.
- Determine construction costs and material estimates.
- Perform field surveys and investigations to prepare engineering drawings.
- Use the latest software and technologies to develop effective designs.
- Maintain accurate design files for reference purposes.
- Consider health, safety, and environmental requirements when developing designs.
- Manage design projects within allotted timelines and budgets.
- Perform design changes and improvements according to changing project demands.
- Comply with all health & safety policies and practices.
- Other duties in support of the Water Program as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Years of relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities will determine career level.
- Candidate should be working toward or hold a Professional Engineer license.
- Understanding of civil engineering principles, concepts, and construction.
- Ability to perform basic tasks and analyze and develop innovative solutions.
- Ability to work with broad objectives and determine the best approach to accomplish tasks.
- Strong language, mathematical, communication, reasoning, and computer skills; drafting skills and knowledge of engineering processes preferred.
- Team-oriented work style.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and no restrictions.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Regularly required to talk or hear, with noise levels typically quiet to moderate.
- Requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, hiking, and use of hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently, and may carry up to 30 pounds while hiking.
- Work outdoors; may walk and hike several miles carrying equipment weighing approximately 30 lbs.
- Physical demands exceed those for sedentary work.
