What You Will Do

The J Division Nevada Operations Group (J-NV) is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Group Leader (R&D Manager

J-NV plans, fields, and executes dynamic high explosive experiments at Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). This includes sub‑critical experiments (SCEs) involving special nuclear material, as well as small‑ and large‑scale non‑nuclear experiments and sanitization operations. The selected candidate will report to the J Division leader and team with other management and staff to advance our capabilities enhancing the laboratory national security mission. You will use your skills and expertise to organize and guide research, engineering, and technical efforts, while interacting with peers and other leaders for strategic purposes. You will facilitate hiring, mentoring staff, and building strong technical teams to fulfill mission objectives.

You will also be called upon to maintain and improve the working relationship with the NNSS contractor and the NNSA Nevada Field Office. These entities provide the authorization, infrastructure, and support necessary to execute the breadth of the activities undertaken by J-NV. In addition, the successful candidate will work closely with the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) SCE program to ensure successful execution of their experiments.

The J Division work environment focuses on mutual trust, interdependent teaming, and shared success.
