You will work with one of the largest libraries in the Federal Government, the National Security Research Center (NSRC), digitizing, indexing and curating classified physical collections at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).
- Digitize materials and populate metadata and indexing information for catalog development.
- Provide quality control for digitized materials and indices.
- Track digital files through the digitization workflow.
- Complete minor maintenance and repairs of scanning equipment, set up scanning equipment for various media types and sizes.
- Perform finishing tasks associated with media to securely store original master copies.
- Assist with customer research requests for locating digitized technical information.
- Assure secure storage and handling of classified information.
- Assist in development and documentation of digitization workflows for archived media.
- Act as a vault‑type room custodian and classified matter custodian.
Minimum
Job Requirements:
- Technical Knowledge: Experience using at least one type of digitization equipment; populating metadata fields for small to moderate‑size collections; performing quality control/assurance reviews of digital files and metadata. Demonstrated self‑starter with strong attention to detail.
- Customer Relations: Experience in customer‑focused communication and relations; ability to work in a team environment.
- Clearance: Ability to obtain a Q clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Education/
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Digitization Familiarity: Experience operating two or more types of professional digitizing equipment for paper, microfilm, microfiche, video, or other media; creating indices and populating detailed metadata; writing processing documents and best‑practice guides.
- LANL Familiarity: Basic understanding of the weapons program at LANL and experience working with classified material in a classified environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Demonstrated experience working in a records or archival organization; experience in classified matter protection and control, vault access training; experience using LANL’s classified network systems, uploading, cataloging, and retrieving documents; document custodian or records management background.
Onsite in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations at the discretion of management.
Position CommitmentRegular appointment employees must serve a period of continuous service in their current position to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. The position commitment for this role is one year.
Additional Details- Occasional travel may occur to train on digitization equipment.
