Position: Facility Maintenance Program Manager 1/2

What You Will Do

This position will be filled at either the Program Manager 1 or Program Manager 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

The Maintenance and Site Services Central Execution group (MSS-CE) is a customer-based group. As a Facility Maintenance Program Manager, you will play a vital role in safeguarding the Laboratory's mission by ensuring the reliability and compliance of facility equipment across LANL facilities. Reporting directly to the MSS-CE Maintenance Manager, you will provide technical guidance and field-based support to ensure safe, effective, and code-compliant facility equipment maintenance.

Program

Manager 1 (Salary Range: $85,900 - $139,900)

As a Central Execution Program Manager, you will play a vital role in safeguarding the Laboratory's mission. Your daily presence in the field, working closely with craft professionals, superintendents, and work execution managers, will be essential to driving excellence in facility maintenance performance. You will author and maintain preventive maintenance instructions that are practical, compliant, and effective for field execution, while also supporting workforce qualification and training initiatives.

In this role, you will actively participate in preventive and corrective maintenance efforts, as well as new project development related to systems.

Program Manager 2 (Salary Range: $104,100 - $172,200)

In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level, you will creatively develop and present performance metrics that communicate program health, efficiency, and continuous improvement opportunities to management. Job Requirements:

  • Program Management: Entry-level knowledge of and experience with program management of technical or operational work, including defining program work scope, schedules, budgets, priorities, and performance milestones; developing cost, scope, and schedule baselines; reporting cost and schedule variance; and managing change control and risk.
  • Portfolio Management: Entry-level knowledge of the technical or operational discipline of the assigned portfolio(s).
  • Knowledge & Expertise: Entry-level knowledge of regulatory and/or Laboratory requirements related to programmatic work of assigned portfolio(s).
  • Communication & Technology: Excellent oral, written communication, and presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Teams, with the ability to effectively manage project documentation and communication.
  • Collaboration: Experience in interacting effectively with all levels of personnel, building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts. Experience in developing and nurturing effective customer relationships.

Additional Job Requirements for Program Manager 2:

  • Knowledge & Expertise: Working knowledge of testing, maintenance, and inspection procedures for maintenance systems to include generators, fire protection, pumps, and HVAC systems. Experience with general troubleshooting of systems and components. Demonstrated ability to write and maintain preventive maintenance instructions that are practical, compliant, and field-ready.
  • Program Management: Working knowledge of and experience with program management of technical or operational work, including defining program work scope, schedules, budgets, priorities, and performance milestones; developing cost, scope, and schedule baselines; reporting cost and schedule variance; and managing change control and risk.
  • Portfolio Management: Working knowledge of the technical or operational discipline of the assigned portfolio(s).
  • Training/

    Certifications:

    NICET certifications in fire protection and Manufacture training certificates in Generator maintenance are desirable.
