What You Will Do
This is an opportunity for an exceptional leader to work to ensure execution of the Plutonium Infrastructure Directorate (ALDPI) capital construction project portfolio. The Directorate is at the center of execution of capital projects in and around the Laboratory's plutonium pit production facilities for U.S. nuclear weapons. We are focused on sustaining the current stockpile; providing life extensions of the stockpile;
and helping shape a globalized nuclear world.
The Project-Program Director 4 (PPD4) reports to a Project-Program Director 6 / Division Leader and provides leadership for the BSI Resource Operations Office (ROO). The ROO is responsible for integrating resource demand and supply across deploying partners, ensuring clear demand signals, transparent prioritization, and effective execution of resources in support of mission delivery. The office serves as a central coordination function to ensure stakeholders are informed, requirements are aligned, status is communicated, and resources are planned and delivered effectively.
The ROO supports the ALD and senior leadership through strategic workforce and training profiles, as well as the tactical execution of resource deployment, to ensure a trained, qualified, and available workforce—both native and deployed across mission needs. This role provides leadership over the end‑to‑end resource operations program, including planning, execution, metrics, reporting, and continuous improvement.
As Project‑Program Director 4, you will provide leadership and management of both personnel and programs, overseeing strategic and tactical implementation of resource operations across the organization. You will manage interfaces with customers and stakeholders across ALDPI, ALDWP, PF‑4 supporting organizations, and the broader Laboratory. This role requires strong program execution skills, including responsibility for performance metrics, reporting, budget tracking, and accountability to senior leadership regarding the quality and effectiveness of services delivered.
You will have direct line management responsibility and will draw upon both LANL and contract staff to efficiently, effectively, and transparently enable mission execution through coordinated resource operations, including but not limited to escort services.
Within this broader portfolio, the PPD4 also has responsibility for the ALDPI Security Escort Program, ensuring the processes, staffing (~90 personnel), and enabling functions required to support ALDPI and PF‑4 operations are in place and operating effectively. The Security Escort Program represents a critical operational resource that is managed as part of the overall ROO resource framework.
