What You Will Do
The Detonation Science and Technology (Q-6) group is seeking a Development and Fabrication Technician to provide technical support in electrical design, fabrication, and assembly of components used in research and development experiments. The role involves agile response to prototyping requests, manufacturing complex parts from drawings and sketches, collaborating on prototype designs, and performing fabrication and assembly independently or as part of a team.
For a higher-level hire, additional responsibilities include developing new procedures, recommending solutions to project challenges, and contributing to research and development solutions from design to fabrication.
Development and Fabrication Tec 3: $66,100 – $103,600 per annum.
Development and Fabrication Tec 4: $72,800 – $115,400 per annum.
MinimumJob Requirements
- Experience in manufacturing of parts, fixturing, and electrical assemblies.
- Experience in assembly, testing, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical circuits and electronics.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to problem‑solve R&D solutions from design to fabrication.
- Knowledge and experience in electrical board and additive manufacturing.
- Extensive experience in assembly, testing, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of printed wire assemblies.
- CAD/CAM software knowledge.
- Development and Fabrication Tec 3:
Associate’s degree + minimum 3 years relevant experience or equivalent education and experience. - Development and Fabrication Tec 4:
Associate’s degree + minimum 5 years related experience or equivalent combination.
- Printed Circuit Board fabrication training or certificates.
- High explosives handler qualification.
- Soldering, welding, mechanical fabrication experience.
- Ability to speak and read vision.
Onsite in Los Alamos, NM.
