What You Will Do
NPI-7 supports the safe, efficient, and compliant shipping of radioactive and hazardous materials across multiple LANL facilities. This is a fast‑paced organization where you’ll gain hands‑on experience, learn new skills, and work in a supportive environment.
As an Undergraduate Student (UGS) hire, you’ll assist with multiple projects and collaborate with various teams to meet safety and mission requirements. This role requires adaptability, initiative, and a willingness to help wherever needed in support of LANL’s national security mission.

Work LocationThe work location is onsite in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

SecurityClearance
Position will be cleared to the Q level. Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization is a decision of the Federal Government.
No clearance required. Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre‑employment background checks.
Policy StatementsDirective 206.2 – Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating the employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. This requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

New‑Employment Drug Test – The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new‑employment drug test. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre‑offer.
Internal Applicants – Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
