Why join Los Alamos National Laboratory?

If you're an experienced 5-axis machinist looking for work that's far from ordinary, this is an opportunity to put your skills toward projects that support one of the most advanced research and national security organizations in the world.

Los Alamos National Laboratory's Prototype Fabrication Division produces precision components used in scientific research, engineering development, and national security programs. Every project is different, requiring problem-solving, craftsmanship, and a high level of technical expertise rather than repetitive production work.

You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, programmers, and machinists in a collaborative environment where precision, innovation, and continuous learning are valued. The laboratory also offers outstanding long-term career stability, excellent benefits, relocation assistance for qualified candidates, and opportunities to work with advanced manufacturing technologies rarely found in traditional machine shops.

  • Perform first-article, in-process, and final inspections
  • Verify dimensions using precision inspection equipment
  • Collaborate with engineers and fellow machinists to solve challenging manufacturing problems
