* The Safeguards - Nuclear Material Control and Accountability (SP-NMCA) Group is seeking a motivated, customer-focused Physical Inventory Officer (PIO) to support Nuclear Material Control and Accountability (NMCA) operations and physical inventory activities. This position plays a critical role in ensuring Los Alamos National Laboratory's compliance with Department of Energy (DOE) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) requirements governing the accountability, control, and management of nuclear materials.
** MC&A Specialist ($87,800-$143,000)*
* As the Physical Inventory Officer (PIO), you will play a lead role in planning, coordinating, and conducting nuclear material physical inventory to ensure compliance with DOE and NNSA requirements. Responsibilities include organizing and facilitating Physical Inventory Quality Committee meetings; partnering with LANL organizations and operational groups to establish, maintain, and decommission Material Balance Areas (MBAs) and locations where nuclear material is handled;
and providing technical guidance and support on Nuclear Material Control and Accountability (NMCA) matters to Laboratory organizations, stakeholders, and personnel. This position also provides direction on the implementation of NMCA policies, regulations, and program requirements, while delivering in-person training and support to NMCA Associates and other staff as needed.

Ability to analyze information, interpret requirements, identify risks or discrepancies, and develop effective corrective actions and solutions.

+ Demonstrated ability to make objective, defensible decisions based on regulatory requirements, procedural guidance, operational data, and established standards.
+ Communication Skills
+ Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical information to a variety of audiences and develop clear reports, documentation, and presentations.
+ Computer and Technical Proficiency
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, for data analysis, reporting, presentation development, and operational tracking. Ability to quickly learn and utilize specialized databases, inventory tracking systems, and Laboratory software applications.

Experience:
** Position requires an Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience directly related to the occupation.
