* The Biochemistry and Biotechnology Group (B-TEK) in the Bioscience Division is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic post-master's candidate interested in performing research within the facets of mass spectrometry - especially proteomics, metabolomics, and lipidomics. The successful candidate will work with a team of scientists, technicians, and students on multiple projects ranging from characterizing chemical exposure, understanding biological effects of chemical/non-chemical stressors, and developing biosample analysis including method development, data acquisition, and data processing.
The candidate will be expected to contribute to different projects as need arises. The ideal candidate must be meticulous in their work, self-starting, independent, and able to communicate in a professional manner. The term of the appointment is 2 years with opportunities to extend the appointment by transitioning to other types of LANL positions or continuing education.
The individual will also act as a member of the Biochemistry and Biotechnology Group (B-TEK) and as a member of the mass spectrometry team. Responsibilities include conducting research and reporting results back to the team at weekly meetings. Furthermore, on the job training and opportunities will arise to craft peer-reviewed publications and grant proposals. In addition, the individual is encouraged to attend seminars and other LANL functions to expand their knowledge base and broaden interests and will also have the opportunity to participate in networking and social events.

+ Ability to comfortably work independently and as part of a dynamic, interdisciplinary team.
+ Demonstrated ability to learn and effectively execute new laboratory skills.
+ Demonstrated competency with computers and software applications for word processing, data processing, and data visualization.
+ Ability to maintain and record work performed, data obtained, as well as write and follow detailed protocols.
+ Ability to understand and present research results clearly and succinctly in both written and oral formats.
+ Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week on a consistent schedule.
+ Ability to manage time and see tasks to completion.

** Education/Experience** :
A master's degree in biology, chemistry, analytical science, or related technical field obtained at the time of hire or within the past 2 years but have not yet been accepted and enrolled in further graduate programs.

Qualifications:

* + Demonstrated experience with analytical techniques, particularly mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography.
+ Demonstrated experience with biological sample preparation leading to quantitative/qualitative results.
+ Knowledge of any coding languages (e.g., R or Python), other statistical data processing packages, or mass spectrometry data packages.
+ Demonstrated oral and written communication skills through presentations at regional/national conferences and peer-reviewed publications. Desire to report work in peer-reviewed publications and assist in the grant proposal process.
