What You Will Do
The X-Theoretical Design Division (XTD) is looking for an outstanding scientific leader to serve as the Group Leader for XTD-IDA, the Integrated Design and Assessment Group. In this role, you will be responsible for the management, scientific direction, and technical quality and delivery of the products generated by the group. XTD-IDA provides intellectual leadership toward an improved predictive understanding of all aspects of nuclear weapon physics, design, performance, and certification, and plays a leadership role in the integration of weapons‑directed theoretical, experimental, and modeling activities throughout the Laboratory.
XTD-IDA also pursues high‑energy‑density physics (HEDP) science experiments to underwrite the scientific and simulation capabilities in the group. More broadly, XTD-IDA applies its technical capabilities to enhance the entire portfolio of work in the X Theoretical Design Division. The R&D Manager 4 for XTD-IDA will work closely with the rest of the XTD management team, maintain and develop working relationships with stakeholders inside and outside the Laboratory, and pay close attention to the mentoring and development of the personnel within the group.
