BAKERY​/CLERK

Responsibilities

• Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service.
• Establish and maintain a safe and clean bakery environment.
• Assist the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals and monitor quality assurance standards.
• Demonstrate Kroger's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
• Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper equipment.
• Offer product samples and inform customers of specials.
• Ensure customers receive correct portion sizes to reduce shrink.
• Recommend bakery items to meet customer needs.
• Use refrigeration, freezers, ovens, and other equipment according to company guidelines.
• Follow food temperature logs and baking instructions.
• Measure, mix, and prepare ingredients per recipe.
• Label, package, and inventory merchandise.
• Check products for freshness and review sell‑by dates.
• Maintain knowledge of all products sold in the department and respond to customer questions.
• Stock, inventory, and label department merchandise.
• Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the manager.
• Understand store layout and locate requested products.
• Stay informed of current, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and note discrepancies.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create a welcoming environment for customers, answering product questions.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Identify unsafe conditions and notify management.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Perform preventive maintenance and report repairs.
• Notify management of customer or employee incidents.
• Report safety risks or illegal activity.
• Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Good basic math skills.
• Current food handlers permit once employed.
