What You Will Do
ALDESHQ is seeking motivated graduate students for paid internship opportunities. Interns receive mentoring, hands‑on technical experience, and professional development through a formalized work plan that complements their chosen area of study.
As an intern you will be a contributing member of a highly functioning, interdisciplinary team addressing national‑interest challenges. You will support more than 160 lab‑wide safety programs, environmental protection and compliance, radiation protection, waste management, quality, and the Occupational Medicine facility and Wellness center while supporting almost 5,000 projects for Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Qualifications- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, coupled with outstanding critical thinking skills.
- Capacity to work on multiple fast‑paced projects and deliver to deadlines.
- Effective teamwork with a willingness to assist and support other team members while also working independently.
- Proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrated by preparation of correspondence, reports, and presentations.
- Strong customer service, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Ability to uphold the Laboratory's mission, vision, culture, and values.
Job Requirements
- Currently enrolled (6 semester credit hours or full‑time equivalent) in an accredited graduate degree‑granting program (or international equivalent).
- Must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
Onsite in Los Alamos, NM. Some interns may work a 9/80 schedule at management discretion and in accordance with the Student Programs Office guidebook.
Important RestrictionsDue to federal restrictions contained in the National Defense Authorization Act, citizens of certain countries who are not lawful permanent residents are prohibited from accessing facilities that support the mission of national security laboratories and nuclear weapons production facilities, including Los Alamos National Laboratory.
