What You Will Do
MST-8 is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to conduct in situ SEM mesoscale mechanical testing coupled with high resolution digital image correlation. The candidate will have the opportunity to explore the roles of microstructure, temperature, and impurity on the local plasticity in advanced structural alloys including tempered-martensitic alloys, stainless steels, and uranium alloys. We seek candidates with strong backgrounds in high resolution digital image analysis for metal deformation.
The position will be awarded to the candidate demonstrating exceptional talent with a successful collaborative and scientific track record.

- Demonstrated knowledge of metals deformation behavior.
Education/
Experience:
A PhD in nuclear engineering, materials science, physics, chemistry, or a related engineering discipline completed within the last 5 years or soon to be completed.
- Experience with in situ SEM mechanical testing.
- Experience with analyzing slip, twinning, and grain boundary sliding.
- Experience with metallographic preparation for DIC.
- Experience with advanced DIC algorithms.

Work LocationThe work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
