What You Will Do
The T-6:
Theoretical Biology and Biophysics group is seeking qualified candidates to hire as Undergraduate Students to work within our research teams. This is an educational opportunity for the selected candidates to contribute to cutting‑edge scientific research and to learn new skills and areas. You will work with the T-6 team in Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Theoretical Division, where we model biological systems from macromolecules to populations and integrate heterogeneous biological data.
and Qualifications
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Biology, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, or other relevant STEM disciplines.
- Minimum 2.75 GPA out of 4.0.
- Computer programming (Python, C++, etc.) in support of scientific or engineering applications.
- Application of mathematical methods to develop models of physical phenomena.
- Familiarity with scientific research methods and data demonstrated by completed coursework in the natural sciences.
- Familiarity with computational research in applications such as computational biology, artificial intelligence, or machine learning.
- Ability to communicate (verbal and written) well in a professional scientific context.
The work location is onsite in Los Alamos, New Mexico. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Eligibility and ClearanceCitizens of the People's Republic of China (including Hong Kong and Macau), the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea), and the Russian Federation who are not lawful permanent residents are prohibited from accessing facilities that support national security missions, which includes Los Alamos National Laboratory. This position does not require a security clearance, but selected candidates will undergo drug testing and other pre‑employment background checks.
