UbiQD is seeking an experienced spectroscopist to support operation of Analytics Department, including daily materials characterization tasks. A successful applicant will be results-oriented, have a strong understanding optical characterization of materials, be able to maintain a database of the spectroscopic measurements, perform instrument maintenance, troubleshoot, and run calibration checks for the instruments. This position also involves standing for extended periods of time, and periodically presenting technical progress to the team and broader communities, as well as constant communication with R&D Team.
Job Requirements- PhD degree in physics, physical chemistry, or related discipline.
- Demonstrated 5+ years of experience with absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and supervise others.
- Ability to organize/analyze data and draw conclusions from technical data.
- Strong scientific record keeping abilities.
- Experience with safe material handling in a chemistry lab setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint and Word).
- Residence in or re-location to Los Alamos, NM (within 40 miles of HQ).
- Be eligible to work in the USA.
- Experience with assembly of home-built spectrometers or strong knowledge and hands-on experience in repairs of commercial spectrometers.
- Experience with nanocrystals, quantum dots, and/or nanocomposites.
- Experience with databases, SQL, Python, Lab View, Origin, Mathematica.
