Position: Project/Program Specialist 4

What You Will Do

Partner with the Associate Laboratory Director for Global Security (ALDGS) as a trusted member of the ALDGS management team collaborating with leadership, Program Directors, and Division and Project Leaders, to develop, review, and refine strategic messaging and highlight Global Security programs, technologies and capabilities. The ALDGS Directorate is committed to protecting our Nation against emerging, converging, prolific, and unconventional nuclear threats, regardless of origin.

ALDGS consists of 5 Division and 5 Program Offices each supporting LANL's Strategic Deterrence Mission through strength in the weapons program and stockpile stewardship and through action in global security and nuclear nonproliferation/counter proliferation, to include Counter Terrorism focusing on known and emerging threats including nuclear, bio, cyber, and space. ALDGS capabilities include technology development and application in the national interest, development of innovative sensing systems for space-based, airborne, and ground based applications, detecting and preventing the development or use of nuclear weapons and improvised devices, providing secure and compliant environments for intelligence and special access communities, supporting the execution of subcritical and critical experiments, measurements, and technical solutions to combat new and evolving national security threats.

Lead and manage the content and staging for the Global Security Red Room classified exhibit hall displays working across all 10 ALDGS Divisions and Program Offices. Ensure ALDGS news and information is accurate and up to date on all communication venues.

Job Requirements:

Effective Communication & Teamwork
  • Demonstrated independent judgement to provide specialized assistance to the ALDGS management team and project and program leads to report on project/program scope to include presentation development (classified and unclassified) for high-level (and other) visits, tours and various meetings within scope, schedule, and quality constraints.
  • Experience developing and nurturing effective high-level internal and external customer relationships to successfully create and share technical and scientific highlights for the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and other customers.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully collaborating across organizations and with other laboratories to enhance partnerships, build trust, gain consensus, and resolve conflicts.
  • Proven ability to successfully plan, organize, coordinate and report status on technical, cutting‑edge activities and events that involve multiple internal and external organizations, to include managing and maintaining calendars.
  • Ability to create diverse and varied showcase displays, models, posters, and event and award write‑ups (at times this includes drafting talking points, scripts and presentations) to meet customer requirements.
  • Knowledge of the LANL Review & Approval System for Scientific and Technical Information (RASSTI) process and experience working with LANL Communications and External Affairs partners.
  • Ability to travel to events to describe/depict Global Security's unique and growing mission (example: conferences, ribbon cuttings).
Clearance

Must have the ability to obtain a DOE Q and SCI clearance access which typically requires US citizenship.

Education/Experience

Position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 12 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of LANL policies, management systems and requirements involving procurement, facilities, safety, security, and quality.
  • Knowledge of the technical elements and structure of global security programs.
  • Understanding of the unique requirements to work and operate in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) or Special Access Program (SAP) environments, including knowledge of the Department of Energy's Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence (DOE-IN) and the Department of War (DOW) computing resources.
  • Active DOE Q and SCI Clearance.
Work Environment Work Location

The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment

Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
