Undergraduate Student Machinist

What You Will Do

C- seeking an engineering-focused Undergraduate Student (UGS) to support the daily operation, organization, and maintenance of our machine shop. This position is ideal for a student who enjoys hands‑on work, fabrication, prototyping, and learning how to operate and maintain shop equipment. The UGS will help maintain shop tools and equipment, organize tooling and work spaces, support fabrication and prototyping projects, and promote a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.

The position will also provide opportunities to develop skills in 3D printing, Solid Works, CAM software, equipment maintenance, and machine shop operations.

• Currently pursuing an engineering degree or a closely related technical field.
• Ability to safely perform hands‑on work in a machine shop environment.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Experience with machining, fabrication, prototyping, or mechanical assembly.
• Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Experience with hand tools, power tools, or other shop equipment.

Position requires a to be enrolled in an undergraduate program in STEM from an accredited institution with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0

The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
