What You Will Do
Join the best and brightest minds at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. Your work will develop user‑friendly R&D software capabilities for advanced decision support and analysis on the cutting edge to solve evolving national security challenges.
- Develop software applications in Julia, Python, and other languages.
- Create APIs and demonstrate tools on real‑world applications.
- Collaborate with other laboratories on multi‑lab projects.
- Conduct research on phase‑unbalanced power system modeling, control and optimization of transmission and distribution networks under uncertainty, and resilient network design.
Minimum
Job Requirements:
- Programming experience in Python and MATLAB.
- Experience with collaborative software development and tools such as Git.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary scientific environment.
- Commitment to continuous learning and self‑motivation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Eligibility to obtain DOE Q and SCI security clearances (U.S. citizenship required).
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and at least 2 years of related experience.

Qualifications:
- Experience in multiple programming languages (e.g., Julia, Rust, Java, C/C++, R, JavaScript/Type Script).
- Front‑end web or application development experience.
- High‑performance computing, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and AWS experience.
- API and data schema development skills.
- Background in electric power transmission, distribution, or microgrid modeling.
- Experience with mathematical optimization and control theory.
- MS in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field within the past 5 years.
