The Weapons Program Material Control - Warehousing team within the Production Supply Chain Group (SCL-3) at Los Alamos National Laboratory is looking for an exceptional Production Control Specialist to support production material management control. This fast-paced, mission-driven role requires attention to detail, adaptability, and a strong commitment to compliance and operational excellence.
The selected candidate will manage Measurement and Testing Equipment (M&TE), production materials, weapons components, and classified materials in support of the Associate Laboratory Director for Weapons Production (ALDWP). The primary focus of this position is ensuring materials are moved safely and compliantly between multiple controlled storage areas, both on and off Laboratory property, supporting the timely achievement of production and facility milestones.
Responsibilities include maintaining accurate inventory records using multiple inventory management and tracking systems, ensuring full item traceability, and keeping storage areas organized for efficient material retrieval. The selected candidate will locate, pull, stage, and kit materials for production, construction, and maintenance activities, verifying that all materials meet the appropriate Management Level (ML) and Procurement Quality Level (PQL) for their intended use and comply with applicable standards.
This role requires adherence to controlled storage procedures, chemical handling, and transportation requirements, and shelf-life and quality standards to ensure materials are properly maintained and accounted for.
Salary RangeWhile the posted salary range for this position is broad, it is highly unusual for selected applicants to be hired at the top end of the range and more common for selected candidates to grow into the full salary band over time.

- Education/
Experience:
Position requires 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Material Management:
- Demonstrated ability to manage materials in accordance with applicable quality assurance standards and industry best practices.
- Knowledge of production and inventory control principles, including cycle counting, physical inventory management, and resource planning practices.
- Awareness of supply chain management and resource integration processes, with willingness to learn DOE/NNSA and industry regulatory requirements.
- Business Systems:
- Proficiency with inventory control and material tracking systems.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Access) and other relevant software.
- Experience using warehouse management systems or production/material tracking tools to monitor and resolve material issues.
- Communication and Customer Service:
- Demonstrated excellence in customer service, with the ability to interact effectively with internal stakeholders and shop floor personnel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey findings, provide recommendations, and proactively support organizational objectives.
- Ability to foster a respectful and inclusive work environment free from discrimination and harassment.
- Ability to initiate and manage shift hand off communication.
- Ability to gather required information when coming on shift and report progress and ongoing action items when leaving.

Skills: - Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Ability to organize storage areas, workflows, and material staging to support efficient operations.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Maintains safety and security compliance as a primary responsibility.
- Completes required safety and security training and integrate safety into all tasks, including taking appropriate action to stop work if conditions are unsafe or compromise security.
- Adheres to warehouse, storage, and handling procedures, as well as applicable chemical and material handling requirements.
- Classified Matter Protection Custodian (CMPC).
- Experience in chemical or hazardous materials management.
- Experience managing M&TE via Indysoft.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with experience managing materials in a nuclear environment and ensuring item traceability.
