The Accountant II reports directly to the Director, College Fiscal Services. This position oversees the financial administration of the De Anza Student Accounts Office and ensures proper accounting, safeguarding, and reporting of all assets and financial transactions for the De Anza Associated Student Government (DASG), Inter Club Council (ICC), club accounts, and Flea Market Program. The role works closely with Fiscal Services, Student Development, the student government, program managers, and staff at both colleges.
The Accountant II ensures compliance with all regulations as well as the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
Primary responsibilities include managing the daily operations of the Student Accounts Office and handling the receipt and disbursement of funds. The position reconciles monthly district transactions and oversees all accounting-related activities. The Accountant II records journal and budget entries and cash transactions; reviews purchase requisitions and invoices; and prepares monthly and annual financial statements. This role collaborates with Blackbaud Customer Support and the District Programmer to resolve accounting software issues, perform updates, and complete year-end close backups.
The Accountant II attends the DASG Finance and Budget Committee and the DASG Senate meetings as a financial advisor. This position presents information to club officers at the Inter Club Council (ICC) financial orientations, including cash-handling requirements. The Accountant II also assists with developing the DASG Budget Book for Board of Trustees review and approval of the DASG budget.

Supervision Received and ExercisedReceives immediate or general supervision from an administrative or academic supervisor or manager. Exercises no supervision of staff.
Class CharacteristicsAccountant I:
This is the entry level in the series and incumbents are expected to learn how to apply theoretical knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Standards to departmental and District processes. Positions at this level are not expected to function with the same level of knowledge or skill as positions at the Accountant II level, and do not exercise the same level of independent direction and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods.
As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern.…
