Streets Maintenance Worker
The City of Los Altos is currently seeking qualified candidates for a full-time Streets Maintenance Worker position. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the upkeep and improvement of the City's infrastructure while serving the community. Maintenance Worker I: $71,546.28 - $86,964.80 Annually
Maintenance Worker II: $79,500.72 - $96,633.42 Annually
The Streets Division performs a wide range of essential maintenance and infrastructure tasks, including street repair (remove, replace and stamp patching), concrete work, sidewalk removal/replacement, carpentry, street lighting installation and maintenance (solar and hard-wired), traffic striping, installation and maintenance of regulatory and street name signage. Additional responsibilities include maintaining the stormwater system, including trash capture devices, as well as installing benches, and public art elements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

- Performs, or is trained to perform, a variety of streets maintenance activities, including the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment and a wide range of hand and power tools.
- Maintenance and reconstruction of curbs, gutters, sidewalks, storm drains, pavement, and pavement markings.
- Assists with the installation of park, street and recreation as it relates to facility maintenance.
- Operates or is trained to operate park and street maintenance equipment and motor vehicles such as dump trucks, water trucks, backhoes/loaders, forklifts, sprayers, chippers, power mowers, edgers, hand tools, rollers, asphalt breakers, airless and air operated paint machines, air compressors, generators, hand tools and related equipment.
- Performs routine maintenance work in the care of tools and supplies.
- Assists with the installation and maintenance of traffic control and informational devices.
- May be required to work weekends or holidays or in the event of emergencies.
- Performs other related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Maintenance Worker I
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of one year of experience in construction or maintenance work
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
LICENSES &
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record
Maintenance Worker II
EXPERIENCE:
Three years of experience in construction or maintenance work.
Proficient knowledge and experience in the following skills:
- Street Maintenance & Repair:
Proven ability to perform street repair work such as removal and replacement of pavement, stamp patching, and crack sealing. - Concrete & Sidewalk Work:
Experience with forming, pouring, finishing, and repairing concrete, including sidewalk removal and replacement in accordance with safety and accessibility standards. - Carpentry
Skills:
Practical knowledge of basic carpentry techniques for constructing and repairing city infrastructure elements and installations. - Street Lighting Systems:
Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting both solar-powered and hard-wired street lighting systems. - Traffic Control & Striping:
Skilled in traffic striping operations and familiar with roadway marking standards and safety practices. - Signage Installation & Maintenance:
