Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review trial balances and general ledgers for assigned operating properties
- Post general journal entries and prepare monthly financial statements with variance analysis
- Maintain balance sheet schedules and supporting documentation for audits and internal review
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and review accounts payable invoices for accuracy
- Collaborate with property managers to reconcile tenant receivables and resolve discrepancies
- 3+ years of experience in affordable housing, property management, or non-profit accounting
- Show flexibility and willingness to learn new software, systems, and processes
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and take initiative to resolve accounting issues
- Manage multiple sets of books and maintain accurate financial records across properties
- Process and verify deposits for operating properties and address discrepancies with property managers
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field
- Understand property accounting principles and general ledger maintenance
- Exhibit strong organizational skills and attention to detail in financial reporting
- Support special projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager or leadership team
- Apply knowledge of MRI Affordable Housing Compliance Software or similar systems (preferred)
