Controller, Accounting, Accounting Manager

Our entrepreneurially oriented real estate management company client, in partnership with CV Resources, seeks a talented Controller to join a lean and mean corporate environment. The client will also consider motivated and bright Accounting Managers and Assistant Controllers as well for this role.

Location: near Glendale, California

Job Status (direct hire, consulting, consulting with possibility of hire) – This role is a direct hire role.

Job Site Status (onsite/hybrid/remote) – Our client has a hybrid work status of two to three (2 to
3) days in the office.

Compensation – Salary range is $125,000 to $150,000/year. Benefits include health insurance, a 401(k) plan, parental leave, and flexible PTO.

• Execute month-end closes of the General Ledger (G/L).
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations monthly.
• Maintain accurate financial records and statements for numerous management company entities.
• Generate financial statements for upper management.
• Perform Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations.
• Validate proper recording of real estate leases.

• Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable tasks in coordination with property management companies.
• Ensure accurate payments to vendors.
• Code invoices within the G/L.
• Work with the CEO on budgeting and forecasting.
• Present findings before relevant personnel.

• Establish an internal control structure, in conformance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Support executives with all external audits, including preparing necessary documentation and answering all questions.
• Accept all relevant tasks as given by upper management.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a comparable major.
• At least ten (10) years of progressive accounting experience.
• At least two (2) years of Real Estate FP&A experience.
• Current or recent experience at a commercial real estate company.

• Prior work experience at a public accounting firm before transitioning to private industry.
• CPA

• Proficiency in Yardi Voyager.

• Initiative-taker who can take the initiative and work with minimum supervision.
• Superb analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
