Position: Controller - Los Angeles, CA - Full-Time or Part-Time

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the outsourced Controller/CFO for multiple non‑profit clients.
  • Transform nonprofit client financial departments to help them meet their mission.
  • Provide financial reporting for management and Board decision‑making and presentations.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to accounting, operations, internal controls, and compliance policies and procedures, supporting client strategy and best practices.
  • Handle transactional activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable (revenue recognition and billing), payroll, general accounting, reconciliations, month‑end close, and maintaining work papers.
  • Perform analysis and data visualization, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Manage grant allocation and funder reporting.
  • Prepare for and manage annual audit.
  • Provide client and staff training opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Passionate about working in or supporting non‑profit organizations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5‑7+ years accounting experience.
  • Experience working in a remote environment preferred.
  • Ability to manage and lead multiple clients independently and respond in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with multiple GL packages, especially Quick Books, and electronic bill pay systems.
  • Non‑profit accounting, public accounting experience, and/or consulting experience is a plus but not required.
  • CPA certification is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
  • Part‑time employees are expected to work during normal business hours to best serve our clients.

Starting annual base salary is $100,000 to $135,000 based on a 35‑hour work week for this non‑exempt position. Total compensation may increase with overtime pay and eligibility for various bonuses. A professional development reimbursement and technology stipend are also provided on an annual basis.
