Job Summary
The Accounts Payable Position plays a critical role in the daily operations of Universal Community Health Center (UCHC). It reports directly to the Accounting Supervisor and is responsible for the day‑to‑day hands‑on accounting functions for the organization. This 40‑hour full‑time position is located at our Beverly office near Montebello & Monterey Park, CA. The position is Non‑Exempt under FLSA.
General Accountabilities- Process full‑cycle accounts payable for the 5 clinics and 3 administrative offices, including verifying, classifying, recording, and paying bills.
- Set up new vendors in the accounting software system, maintain W‑9 forms, and track vendor contracts to aid payment reconciliation.
- Process payables in the procurement software Microix before payment in MIP Abila.
- Handle expense reports using accounting and payroll software.
- Process payments via checks, ACH, or wire transfers through online banking and manage disbursement schedules to avoid late fees.
- Process monthly rent payments, tracking rent increases and CA‑M adjustments.
- Reconcile vendor statements and field correspondence to resolve payment discrepancies or disputes and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
- Scan documents to Google Drive and file all documents.
- Assist with month‑end closing activities, monitor aging reports, and make adjustments as necessary.
- Aid Accounting in providing responses to external auditors to ensure successful audit results.
- Help prepare annual tax filings (1099s, Form 571L, Statement of Information, etc.).
- Operate the company vehicle to run deposits at the bank once a week and collect cash/mail at clinics and administrative offices once a week.
- Perform special projects or other duties as assigned.
- In conjunction with the CFO and Director of Accounting, assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls.
- College graduate with an emphasis in Accounting, and/or Finance.
- Knowledge of processing full‑cycle accounting and the monthly and annual close process.
- High level of skill with the MS Office suite and Google Docs.
- Ability to track detail and follow up to complete projects and transactions.
- Ability to multi‑task in a dynamic fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization and time‑management skills.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Automobile and a valid California driver’s license are required due to necessary work‑related travel (i.e., banking).
- Occasional travel to meetings, trainings, and conferences.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
- Light lifting up to 25 lbs; occasional bending, stooping, or squatting.
- Regular walking; ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Vision and hearing required for computer use, teleconferences, and communication with vendors.

- Employee may need to travel to all UCHC facilities as required.
- Occasional requirement to sit and walk.
- Finger dexterity and hand coordination required.
- Close and distance vision with ability to adjust or focus.

- Possible risk of electrical shock, explosives, radiation, and vibration.
- Protective clothing or equipment required, including gloves, helmets, steel‑toed boots, and protective eyewear.
- Noise level usually high.
