Position Summary

The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in managing the financial health of our manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for a wide range of accounting activities. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a keen eye for detail and a proven ability to contribute to process improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • General Ledger & Financial Reporting: Prepare and post journal entries related to manufacturing activities, including cost of goods sold, inventory adjustments, and production accruals.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, with a focus on inventory and related accruals.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to support management decision-making.
  • Cost Accounting: Develop, analyze, and maintain standard costs for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
  • Perform regular cost roll-ups and analyze the impact of changes in material, labor, and overhead costs.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances (e.g., material usage, labor efficiency, overhead spending) and provide actionable insights to operations management.
  • Support the annual budget process for manufacturing costs.
  • Participate in make-or-buy analysis and other strategic cost initiatives.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee accurate inventory valuation and reconciliation.
  • Lead and/or assist with physical inventory counts and cycle counting programs.
  • Analyze inventory obsolescence and reserves.
  • Work closely with supply chain and production teams to optimize inventory levels.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA certification preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years specifically in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience with cost accounting principles, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, Microsoft Dynamics) is required; experience with manufacturing modules is a significant plus.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
