Job Summary
As a Tax Senior Manager, Partnerships, you’ll be responsible for advising clients on the tax implications of their business objectives and various partnership‑specific items, including but not limited to section 704(b) and taxable income allocations, capital account maintenance, liability analysis and allocations, section 734(b) and 743(b) adjustment calculations, and Tax Receivable Agreement (TRA) calculations. In this role you will apply your knowledge and experience to understand potential partnership taxation issues and assist in the preparation of partnership‑specific computations.
You will be a critical member of the Partnerships leadership team, actively participating in marketing and business development of the group, and will develop and drive process improvement and team‑building initiatives while maintaining client relationships and acting as a source of guidance to other team members.
- Maintain an in‑depth understanding of partnership tax issues and opportunities.
- Develop and conduct CPE training sessions once per year.
- Train and mentor associates, senior associates, and managers.
- Identify research needs, frame issues, and report analysis.
- Assist with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing client taxes.
- Apply tax knowledge to recommend solutions while maximizing client benefits and managing risk.
- Implement applicable firm strategies and manage client expectations.
- Introduce and develop new ideas to improve client, firm, or personnel positions.
- Research and implement tax strategies, including experimentation with promising new strategies and ideas.
- Present complex strategies to clients and prospective clients.
- Lead marketing campaigns if applicable to the role.
- Supervise associates, senior associates, and managers on all projects.
- Review work prepared by associates, senior associates, and managers and provide review comments.
- Train associates on current software tools.
- Act as a career advisor to associates, senior associates, and managers.
- Schedule and manage workload of associates, senior associates, and managers.
- Provide verbal and written performance feedback to associates, senior associates, and managers.
- Other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics preferred.
- Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
- Eight or more years of relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting experience.
- Specialized partnership experience required.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- Private equity experience at both fund and portfolio company levels preferred.
- CPA, Attorney, or IRS Enrolled Agent preferred; possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role is also preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software preferred.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, research, and critical‑thinking skills.
- Ability to delegate work as needed.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Able to develop and manage a team of tax professionals.
- Able to effectively develop and maintain client relationships.
- Solid organizational skills with an emphasis on meeting project deadlines and attention to detail.
- Ability to multi‑task while working independently and within a group environment.
- Proven ability to work in a deadline‑driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Execute executive presence and act as primary client contact on assigned engagements.
Individual salaries are determined after consideration of numerous factors including qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. National Range: $99,750 - $262,500. Maryland Range: $99,750 - $262,500. NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $99,750 - $262,500. Washington DC Range: $99,750 - $262,500.
