Accounting Manager
Summary
The Client Accounts Administrator is expected to manage the firm’s top-tier billing portfolios based on defined support models. The role handles high-volume billing for institutional, high-profile clients and attorneys, serves as a subject-matter expert, participates in client meetings, and collaborates with Legal Support Services and Accounting teams to provide streamlined billing and client account services.
LocationAvailable in Palo Alto, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Diego, or Seattle offices with a hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities- US Clients
- Manage complex billing in terms of volumes, global clients, and electronic billing assignments.
- Review and edit prebills and obtain requisite approvals for deferrals, write‑offs and time transfers.
- Field billing inquiries and manage tickets from the Accounting Service Desk, meeting SLA requirements.
- Proficient in Bill Blast and electronic billing vendor sites; perform quality assurance and root‑cause analysis for electronic bill rejection.
- Maintain accurate descriptions of client billing requirements and update changes as necessary.
- Obtain complex monthly reporting, review data for accuracy before submission.
- Gather and submit accrual information based on client requirements.
- Finalize invoices and submit directly to the client (per policy) or provide to attorneys for transmission.
- Submit finalized invoices electronically based on client requirements.
- Continuously improve client service and deliverables.
- Share expertise and knowledge to support team member development.
- Proxy for or with manager when additional support is required.
- Drive improvements through collaboration with other departments.
- Use appropriate tools and resources to deliver assignments and meet deadlines.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Global Clients
- Coordinate and lead global client unified billing, managing account assignments and complete billing functions.
- Obtain complex monthly reporting and review data for accuracy before submission.
- Liaise with international counterparts for accrual and forecasting information.
- Keep U.S. Billing Timekeeper informed and follow up to ensure timely invoicing.
- Initiate troubleshooting with finance counterparts.
- Track and resolve tickets from the Accounting Service Desk.
- Generate global client LEDES files for electronic billing based on client requirements.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; team‑oriented, accuracy in proofreading, strong attention to detail. Ability to troubleshoot, resolve complex problems, analyze data, work independently, and take direction well.
Minimum Education- High School Diploma or GED.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- At least 5 years managing high‑volume billing portfolios in a fast‑paced environment, with expert knowledge of direct billing or client accounts (domestic, global, e‑Billing) for a law or professional services organization. Experience as a team lead preferred; strong computer skills in Excel and accounting systems such as Aderant.
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties.
- Produce deliverables, answer phone calls, and reply to correspondence efficiently.
- Provide timely, accurate, and quality work product.

Sedentary work, occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds. Requires sustained sitting and occasional walking or standing.
Work EnvironmentThe position may be hybrid, with remote and in-office work coordinated with the hiring manager or supervisor.
CompensationThe hiring range for this position is $41.20–$65.51 per hour, dependent on geographic location. Non‑exempt positions are paid hourly with overtime as applicable.
