Assistant Controller – Family Office/Business Management

Location: Century City, CA

As a member of CLA's CAAS practice, you will work directly 1:1 with clients to provide customized accounting services, supervising the accounting team on each engagement and delivering timely financial statements while implementing best practices.

Responsibilities
  • Perform Assistant Controller functions and manage them for your clients.
  • Act as consultant and advisor on best accounting and finance practices.
  • Provide project management by managing multiple clients and deadlines.
  • Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
  • Build opportunities for clients, communities, and people.
  • Attend industry events and trainings to become a professional.
  • Maintain knowledge of organizational policies, federal/state directives, and accounting standards.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; related experience may be considered.
  • Experience: 4 years of accounting and/or financial experience required; public accounting preferred; family office experience highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and systems (Quick Books preferred).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook skills.
  • Travel: Primarily in‑office at downtown Minneapolis with frequent local travel; occasional non‑local or overnight travel may be required.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (FASB/SFAS) or other comprehensive basis of accounting.
  • Strong organizational skills and goal orientation.
  • Ability to handle pressure professionally.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Agillink system experience preferred.
  • Clear, concise communication.
  • Teamwork and appreciation of diverse contributions.
  • Proven success in managing work and client relationships to exceed expectations.

Compensation: $93,000 - $157,000 (California)
