Audit Manager With Non-Profit Specialty
Dynamic CPA firm in Los Angeles is seeking an Audit Manager with a Non-Profit specialty – Path to Director – Balanced work life environment – Mix of in-office and remote work
The Audit Manager acts as the conduit between the Partner, the client, and the professional team. Managers oversee multiple auditing and accounting projects and client engagements simultaneously, along with organizing, staffing, and coordinating workflow for engagements. They mentor and develop staff, establish connections to bring in new business for the company, and are key in managing client relationships.
Duties- Lead all stages of audit or review engagements concurrently
- Maintain regular communication with clients, demonstrating a deep understanding of their businesses and controls, fostering strong relationships
- Inform the Director or Partner of any important client developments and address potential issues
- Show proficiency in technical skills, work quality, and adherence to professional standards while advising clients
- Create and manage engagement schedules effectively
- Understand and maintain the company’s audit approach
- Establish, track, and follow budgets for assigned Assurance and Advisory projects; address budget overruns and seek new opportunities for change orders
- Anticipate engagement challenges and questions
- Review financial statements and other client deliverables
- Supervise, train, and review work done by senior and staff accountants
- Lead staff performance evaluations, reviews, and coaching
- Contribute to company’s Business Development efforts
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Accounting or related Bachelor’s degree
- At least five years’ experience in public accounting focusing on non-profit audits
- Active CPA license
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Effective team leader and collaborator
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work efficiently
- Thorough understanding of US GAAP, GASB standards, US GAAS, and Government Auditing Standards
- Responsive to training, supervision, and feedback
- Capable of directing, reviewing, and training staff at all levels
- Mixture of remote, in-office, and client location work
- Same-day travel for client visits, meetings, and events
- Occasional overnight travel for client meetings or seminars
