Key Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Reporting
Assist in overseeing the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by the accounting team. Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Ensure the integrity of the general ledger and maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities. Assist with consolidations and intercompany accounting where applicable.
RealEstate Accounting
Oversee accounting for a diversified real estate portfolio, including commercial, retail, office, industrial, or multifamily assets. Monitor capital expenditures, development projects, and fixed asset accounting. Ensure compliance with lender reporting requirements and ownership reporting packages.
Leadership & OperationsMentor, develop, and supervise members of the accounting team while fostering a collaborative environment. Assist with establishing and improving accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Drive process improvements and help identify opportunities to streamline workflows through technology and automation. Serve as a key resource for cross‑functional teams, including Operations, Asset Management, and Finance.
Compliance & AuditCoordinate annual financial statement audits and work closely with external auditors. Assist with tax reporting by partnering with outside tax advisors. Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Prior real estate industry experience required, including property accounting and multi‑entity reporting.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience with real estate accounting software and large ERP systems (Yardi, MRI, JD Edwards, Oracle, or similar preferred).
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner across multiple departments.
