The Experienced Senior Accountant at Black Line plays a key role in a best‑in‑class accounting department that results in an accurate and timely three‑day close. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Accounting, the ideal candidate is highly driven with strong analytical and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication.
- Prepare accurate, timely journal entries in accordance with the established schedule.
- Act as a primary accounting liaison for key business partners, providing financial insights and strategic guidance.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Perform financial analysis and variance explanations; provide insights to identify trends and recommend actions to optimize financial performance.
- Own and execute cross‑functional process improvement projects, quantifying the impact on efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with USGAAP.
- Perform technical accounting research and update technical accounting memos and policies.
- Coordinate and participate in internal and external audits, including preparing audit schedules, addressing audit queries, and maintaining effective internal control systems.
- Work closely with the Accounts Payable department to ensure proper general ledger coding of bills.
- Foster collaboration within the accounting team and effectively communicate financial information to stakeholders across the organization.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using accounting software and related systems to streamline processes and improve reporting capabilities.
- Stay updated with advancements in accounting technology and changes in accounting regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
- Participate in (and lead, where appropriate) other projects and ad‑hoc analyses as required.
- 4‑5 years of progressive accounting experience; 4‑5+ years of related field experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent experience) required.
- CPA certification preferred; experience at a Big4 or national firm preferred.
- Solid knowledge of USGAAP to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to execute and follow through to completion and documentation.
- Ability to learn quickly in a fast‑paced environment and work effectively under time pressure while managing tight deadlines.
- Ability to work proactively and independently and collaboratively as a team contributor.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills required.
- Experience with Net Suite preferred.
