Job DescriptionAs an Accounting Manager at Promentrs, you will serve as a trusted, embedded accounting resource for our clients, functioning as a senior member of their accounting team while representing the quality and standards of Promentrs. You'll own the day-to-day accounting function, lead close processes, and provide the kind of thoughtful, organized financial management that gives executives the clarity to make better decisions.
What You'll DoFinancial Close & Reporting
- Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and trial balance review
- Perform and oversee bank reconciliations and inter-company eliminations
- Generate financial reports and internal management packages that are clear, accurate, and decision-ready
- Integrate seamlessly into client organizations, acting as a senior member of their finance team
- Partner with client leadership to identify accounting issues, improve processes, and implement solutions
- Serve as a reliable point of contact for accounting questions, audit coordination, and cross-functional finance support
- Adapt quickly to varying industries, systems, and team structures
- Develop, implement, and document accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Identify inefficiencies and drive process improvements that increase accuracy and speed across the close cycle
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Support audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors as needed
- Embrace a mentorship mindset by sharing knowledge, offering guidance, and investing in the growth of junior team members and client staff; we believe that developing others is just as important as delivering results.
- Mentor and review the work of junior accountants or client staff as applicable
- Communicate complex accounting matters clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
- Collaborate with Promentrs leadership to ensure consistent delivery quality and client satisfaction
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA license strongly preferred, or active CPA candidate)
- Big 4 public accounting experience is highly preferred
- 8-12 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and the ability to apply technical standards across various industries and entity types
- Proven experience owning the full-cycle close process, not just participating in it
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
