Accounting Manager

MV Transportation seeks an Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations supporting safe, reliable transit services. Reporting to senior finance leadership, this role manages general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and month-end close, ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting for a multi-location transportation business. The Accounting Manager will develop budgets and forecasts, perform variance and trend analysis, and provide clear financial insights to operations leaders.

This position also maintains strong internal controls, supports audits, and drives process improvements in a culture focused on safety, respect, and community service. Supervisory responsibilities include coaching and developing accounting staff while fostering teamwork and continuous improvement. Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end and year-end close, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements
• Manage general ledger, AP, AR, and payroll processes
• Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
• Analyze financial performance and provide variance and trend analysis to leadership
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies
• Support audits and coordinate with external auditors and stakeholders
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff for high performance
• Partner with operations leaders to align financial insights with service goals
• Implement process improvements and automation to increase accuracy and efficiency
• Prepare management reports to support strategic and operational decisions
