Position

Summary

The Accounting Clerk provides essential day-to-day support to the Finance department by processing accounts payable and receivable, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the team with data entry, reconciliations, and reporting. This is a part-time role well suited to a detail-oriented professional who takes pride in accuracy and thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable and Receivable
  • Process accounts payable transactions accurately and on schedule
  • Record and manage all accounts receivable activity including cash receipts
  • Correspond with internal staff and third-party vendors regarding AP and AR matters
  • Allocate monthly benefit invoices to appropriate cost centers
Reconciliation and Reporting
  • Prepare credit card reconciliation worksheets for cardholders and verify receipts against statements and allocations
  • Download deposits and disbursements for cash flow tracking
  • Run monthly Budget to Actual reports in support of Finance Team meetings and department distribution
Financial System Administration
  • Import recurring journal entries into Financial Edge
  • Import Salesforce donation batches and download cash receipts reports
  • Enter employee salary allocations for Releases
  • Deposit cash receipts in accordance with organizational procedures
Audit and Compliance Support
  • Maintain department files, records, and documentation in an organized and audit-ready manner
  • Support annual audit and tax return preparation processes
  • Provide data and financial analysis as requested by the Senior Accounting Manager, Senior Director of Finance, or CFO
General Support
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc requests as assigned by finance leadership
  • Contribute to process improvement efforts as the organization grows and systems evolve
Qualifications Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a closely related role
  • Solid understanding of general bookkeeping and accounting principles, including AP and AR processing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
  • Working knowledge of financial accounting software or ERP systems
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
  • Associate degree or coursework in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance
  • Experience with Financial Edge (Blackbaud) or Salesforce
  • Prior experience in a nonprofit finance environment
  • Familiarity with fund accounting or grant-based financial reporting
