The Senior Corporate Accountant works closely with the Controller and Corporate Accounting Manager to strengthen internal controls, improve accounting processes, and ensure the accurate and timely close of the books across multiple entities. • Oversee and review accounts payable activity, including invoice processing, three-way matching, vendor payment issues, ensuring escalations are resolved timely and accurately.
  • Serve as a liaison to external auditors: prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation, respond to audit inquiries, and help drive annual audits to completion ahead of filing deadlines.
  • Analyze financial data and reporting for trends, discrepancies, and process improvement opportunities; recommend and help implement enhancements to accounting workflows and internal controls.
  • Manage and reconcile the receipt of grants, sponsorship, donations, etc.
  • Review and provide technical guidance on the work of Accountant I / Staff Accountant-level team members without formal supervisory authority; act as a subject-matter resource for complex accounting or reconciliation issues.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial analysis as requested by the Corporate Accounting Manager, Controller, or Chief Financial Officer.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and affordable housing/regulatory reporting requirements relevant to the organization's portfolio.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to further Abode Communities' mission in the provision of affordable rental housing.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities. The Senior Corporate Accountant is expected to informally mentor and review the work of less experienced accounting staff, and may take on direct supervisory responsibility as the team grows.
